Four weeks are dedicated to the didactic content covering theory approach includes lectures, skills labs, and self-study modules. The program spans across 14 weeks consisting of full time hours from Monday – Friday. On completion of this course students have the perioperative framework and are ready to start orientating as a novice perioperative course into the perioperative setting. Thirteen (13) Lab days in a state of the art simulation lab provide the Lab skill aspect of the course. One line theory modules, direct and online lectures provide students with continued support throughout the theory and clinical component of the course. The program is grounded by and reflects the national competencies outlined in the current Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC) Standards. The course is open to experienced registered and novice nurses registered within their provincial affiliate to be eligible.
